What Part Are You Playing?
Stop repeating the story. Start examining your role in it.
When the same problems keep showing up, on a team, in a leadership role, or across an organization, the answer usually isn’t more effort or more information. It’s understanding what’s actually contributing to the result.
I help leaders and teams recognize their patterns, take ownership of what they can influence, and create different results.
The Problem Isn’t New. The Pattern Is Familiar.
Most recurring problems aren’t caused by a lack of information. People know what’s expected. Organizations have procedures, training, and capable people. And yet the same issues keep coming back. That’s because results come from patterns: the decisions, responses, habits, and systems repeated so often they start to feel normal. Until those patterns are recognized, the story keeps repeating.
Asking “What part am I playing?” isn’t about blame. It’s about separating what’s outside your control from what you can influence, and then changing it. Not every problem is a mindset problem. In an organization, the cause may be leadership behavior, unclear expectations, communication, processes, or systems. That’s why the work starts with diagnosis, not a prescription.
Stop solving the wrong problem.
DEFINE → DISCOVER → DIAGNOSE → DISRUPT → DEVELOP
The Interrupt Framework™ is a five-step method for examining what’s contributing to a result and changing it. It works the same way whether the focus is one person’s decisions or a whole team’s follow-through.
Define
What result are you trying to create? Clarify the result you want to achieve and what success actually looks like.
Discover
What is actually happening? Examine the patterns, behaviors, responses, and circumstances influencing your current results: what’s really happening, not what’s assumed.
Diagnose
What’s contributing to the gap? Identify what’s actually contributing to the problem before deciding what to change.
Disrupt
What needs to change? Interrupt what is no longer working and make intentional changes.
Develop
What will keep the change going? Build the habits, practices, decisions, and systems that support different results.
Diagnosis Before Prescription.
Every engagement starts by understanding what’s actually happening, not with a ready-made solution. The Interrupt Diagnostic™ is a structured discovery tool built around five dimensions: Clarity, Reality, Drivers, Response, and Reinforcement.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does “What Part Are You Playing?” mean?
It’s a question about influence, not blame. Some circumstances are outside your control. The question asks what you can affect, such as your decisions, your responses, how you lead, or how your team works, so you can change what’s within reach.
What is The Interrupt Framework?
A five-step method (Define, Discover, Diagnose, Disrupt, Develop) for examining what’s contributing to a recurring problem before deciding how to change it. It applies to leaders, teams, and whole organizations.
How is this different from traditional training?
Traditional training starts with a solution. We start with a diagnosis. Before recommending a workshop, program, or intervention, we look at what’s really happening and why.
What if the problem isn’t behavioral?
It might not be. An interruption can come from unclear expectations, communication breakdowns, skill gaps, systems and processes, competing priorities, or a combination of factors, not just behavior. That’s exactly why we diagnose first.
We’ve already invested in training. How is this different?
If training alone had solved it, the problem wouldn’t still be here. We look at what’s getting in the way of applying what your people already know.
What types of organizations do you work with?
Organizations of any size who have capable people but are experiencing recurring challenges with communication, accountability, leadership, or follow-through.
Do you work with government agencies?
Yes. What types of engagements do you offer?
From a single workshop to a multi-week performance intensive to an ongoing advisory partnership. Engagements are scoped to the challenge you’re solving.
How do we know which service we need?
